Te Taiao

Course Description

Geography at Level 3 focuses on the use of our environments in Aotearoa and the world; both natural environments and cultural environments. Students will be looking at our use of natural resources and the natural processes that exist within them such as our rivers, our land, our mountains, our oceans and how we interact with and can protect te taiao. We will also consider the cultural environments we as humans create and inhabit.

Fieldwork is a key component of Geography, focusing on gathering primary and secondary data to support a research idea/problem.

This could involve looking at contexts such as Tropical Coral Reefs, Geographic research of local natural environments such as Coromandel beaches and looking at contemporary geographic issues in our urban centres that impact both our environment and the people who call it home.
