10 Music

This course continues to build upon students’ musical skills from Year 9. If students wish to take NCEA Level 1 Music, they must take this course. Attendance at itinerant instrument lessons is required. These lessons are provided free once a week and include lessons in guitar, bass guitar, drums, vocals, saxophone, trumpet and trombone. Piano tuition from an outside provider is also available. This course has an emphasis on group work as students form bands and work collaboratively on performance projects. Students learn skills in songwriting and music production. They compose and record original songs. Performance and enjoyment through learning music is the emphasis of this course.
